Memo

This week students learned how to write an instructional memo. Their assignment was to post a memo in their blog. Here's mine:

Memo
To: EFL Teachers
From: Teacher Jennifer
Date: June 24, 2013
Subject: Summary Game

This is a short description on how to play a summary game using Youtube.  It has been modified for my Management Science - 2nd Year English class. You will need a projector, white board space, and labels for each student to wear.

1. Divide the students into teams of three and give each student a job: "eyes," "writer," and "artist".
2. Have the "eyes" watch a short Youtube video.
3. The "eyes" must summarize verbally what they saw to their team.
4. The "artist" must draw an important scene from the description.
5. The "writer" must create one sentence that fits the picture and summarizes the video clip.
6. Students watch the Youtube video together to see which team is the most accurate.
7. Special rule! If you have extra students, make each one a judge of the other roles. One student judges how much English the "eyes" use in their description, one student judges the artwork, and the other student judges the writing.

Please feel free to modify this game to suit your needs.

Kind regards,

Teacher Jennifer
